Nad Tanya Alex & Tashie become Christians

We had an unforgettable Sunday at The Beacon Church on 11th June when Nadim & Tanya Ednan-Laperouse OBE and our daughter Bethany told the story of how Nad & Tanya’s daughter Natasha died on a BA flight to Nice in July 16. Bethany, Nad and Tashie had boarded the flight together. Nad and Bethany described Tashie’s death on board in moving and heart-wrenching detail. Tashie died as a result of an allergic reaction to a baguette she had bought at Pret a Manger at Heathrow. The inquest, in Sept 2018, found that the food labelling was inadequate, and that Pret had found a loophole in the law when it came to not labelling allergens. Since then, Tanya and Nad have worked tirelessly to bring about “Natasha’s Law” which, since 2021, has massively upped the requirements of those selling food containing allergens, to label the allergens sufficiently. The story was not just tragic however, but also inspiring, because Bethany told us how she had introduced Tashie to Jesus 18 months before Tashie died. Bethany told us how Tashie had become a Christian and the difference that made to her life. Tashie’s mum Tanya, and her brother Alex then started coming to church having seen a change in Tashie. Then Tashie died. But in a unique moment in the interview, Nad, who was an atheist at the time, told us how, as Tashie died, he saw “five angels” above her body. This un-wanted supernatural experience led to Nad’s conversion to Christianity. This is documented in the BBC Radio 4 documentary “A Bright Yellow Light” which is available on iplayer. Also featured in press reports with headlines such as “Atheist Dad of tragic Natasha saw 5 angels.” Anyway, in the years that followed, we baptised Nad, Tanya and their son Alex at our church. A whole family have become Christians. Nad also told us how he forgave the CEO of Pret A Manger in an astonishing meeting between the two men. This act of forgiveness was reported in the Daily Mirror. There’s a link to the video below. NB. My mic and Bethany”s mic were recored clean, but sadly Tanya and Nad’s mics did not record, so we have had to boost the sound in the room in order to hear them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvoJaDREcfQ&t=288s
