Previously, on Saturday, I’d taught all day at the New Ground Academy in Edinburgh. This is a training base for a 2 year theology course where the content in usually video recorded at Everyday Church in Wimbledon, and then projected at training bases in Liverpool, Holland, Guernsey etc. So I was a rare live speaker for the Scottish base and I was amazed to meet an old friend who’d come down on a four hour coach journey from Inverness! I taught 4 sessions on healing, beginning with my own long and error-strewn path into healing ministry, then the 2nd session was a long evaluation of cessationist arguments against healing. The third was looking at positive reasons why God does heal, and lastly biblical reasons why sometimes God does not heal. All told it was my fifth weekend with King’s Church, Edinburgh. Each time I’ve stayed with Dan & Julie Hudson and their 4 children. It was great to re-connect with them and in particular to hear the amazing story of how Julie, who is a GP, became a Christian in Africa in her gap year before arriving at Newcastle University. I also learned a lot more during the weekend about Heart of Midlothian FC!
