18 people who told us they are not part of any church, nor part of the Christian Union, prayed the salvation response prayer tonight at Lincoln University. And an additional 6 people who are not part of church or CU who didn’t pray the prayer said they wanted to know more. It was a fantastic effort from a tiny CU to gather around 150 people there including the university orchestra. The Carols were held at St Swithuns, a huge Anglican city centre church building, which was closed on Sundays for 20 years. One of the ordinands Matt Rodgers told me that 17 people moved up (an HTB plant) to re-start Sunday worship there two years ago, and they already have 300 people gathering there on Sundays. They run back to back Alpha Courses and much of their growth has been through new Christians. A story I’m hearing all over the UK at the moment, including at my sister’s 50th birthday party when I got taking to Gavin Collins, archdeacon of Portsmouth, another place HTB have just planted.. Great to hear of people becoming Christians today, especially through the fantastic Alpha film series.
