69 responses to the gospel in Plymouth

69 people who told us they are not part of any church nor part of the Christian Union prayed the salvation response prayer at Plymouth University CU Carols at Methodist Central Hall tonight. Fantastic organisation and an excellent choir and “big band” rendition of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” There were an additional 7 who are also not church nor CU, who said they wanted to “discover more”. Of those who responded we think 39 left enough contact details to be “contactable.” So these are people who have told us they are outside of the Christian church who are giving us their contact details so they can be followed up in terms of their response to the gospel tonight. The hosts thought attendance was around 550, which is more than double last year’s attendance. I also had a great time catching up with two old friends now living in Plymouth who’d come to the service: Rebecca Smith, now pursuing a political career down here with the Conservatives and Raoul Witherall, a super gifted worship leader, who was with us at our church in Reigate fully twenty years ago. I’m staying the night with Andrew Larkin, who is an elder at the newfrontiers church here, and also the UCCF staff worker for Plymouth.
