One of the most exciting things about peaching in Kingston town centre this morning was seeing if I could get shoppers who were walking past the open door onto the street to stop and listen to the gospel. I did start life as a street preacher so it was just like old times apart from the fact that I was indoors and they were in the sunshine. One of the most amazing features of Everyday Church, Kingston (formerly Kingston Baptist Church) is that it’s about 100 yards from Bentalls and about 150 yards from John Lewis. I managed to get 3 people to stop for about 5 minutes and listen, and then a few more afterwards. The people in the building were very responsive too. What a fantastic venue! Julia and I both had a great time. Pastor Akhtar Shah is doing a great job there. A truly superb conversion of a historic Baptist Building. I can’t think there is a Baptist Church closer to a town centre anywhere in Britain. The progress Everyday Church have made in that venue over the past 18 months is remarkable. Last Sunday I spoke at Wimbledon (twice) and Southfields, driving between the two venues. It was my first Sunday back at Wimbledon, and we had 32 of our friends and neighbours from Fulham who came to support us on my first preach in our new church home. We are so grateful to God for a great start with our new church family.
