I remember my friend Al Shaw telling me years ago that he was moving to Bristol to start a new church. I have many friends who did similar things during the 1990s, and early 2000s. And it is amazing to see how these churches have grown. City Church Bristol is a good example. Yesterday they filled the Elmgrove Centre, which is a good sized C of E looking building near the student district of Bristol. The church is now led by Simon and Kate Walker, and it was my second time with them on a Sunday.
A young woman with a long-standing knee injury was immediately healed when I prayed for the sick yesterday. I was later told that she was one of those who became Christians later in the meeting. However I was disappointed not to see any other healings until at the end of the event when a student from Nottingham who had two weeks off work with labyrinthitis, which is a condition where you lose your balance, said she’d been healed, which was a big deal for her as she said she’d been lying down for two weeks.
Eight people responded to an invitation to receive Christ for the first time. So there was a great atmosphere afterwards. And it was great to see the building filled.
