AP4L – Sunday night’s launch in Sussex

On Sunday evening I spoke at a FIEC (Federation of Independent Evangelical Churches) church in Haywards Heath, where there were people from a local Pentecostal church, a large C of E church, a Baptist church and several others. I was introduced by Kieran Dunne from The King’s Church, Mid-Sussex. This was the local launch of A Passion for Life 2014, which is a joint church initiative featuring a large event at the Dolphin Leisure Centre, where there will be music from Edinburgh based singer songwriter Stef McLeod (pictured) and a talk by myself on Saturday 5th April 2014. It was a chance for the churches represented to get to know me, and vice-versa. My involvement has come from speaking at the Bible by the Beach conference earlier this year in Eastbourne, and the national campaign is being backed by FIEC churches and also by many conservative evangelical C of E churches. Although I see many encouraging signs of church growth, the fact remains that the vast majority of people living in the UK have not yet had the chance to hear the good news about Jesus in a way that seems appealing and relevant to them. The AP4L events next year will be an opportunity for thousands of British people to connect with Christianity in a new way. The Sussex launch on Sunday evening went really well, and I was very grateful to Graham Nicholls, who hosted the event. Graham used to be in a youth group at Caterham Baptist Church led by my parents in law.
