8 healings and 14 responses for salvation this morning at City Church Newcastle.

We had 8 people report a physical healing and 14 people respond for salvation this morning at City Church, Newcastle. I prayed a “blanket” prayer for healing over the whole congregation about 20 minutes into the sung worship time, and when I asked people to raise a hand if they had been healed, 6 people did so and came straight up to the microphone to tell us what had happened. Then I invited others to be prayed for 1 on 1 as I joined in with the ministry team and an additional 2 people told everyone that they had been healed. In terms of the type of healings that were described, there were two people who said they had been healed from arthritic pain, and one from an abnormality of the fingers, which had been a lifetime condition. Another lady who said she’d been healed was a hospital consultant. So with these and the others I’ve not mentioned it’s best to see what the long-term results are before telling more details, but there was certainly a real excitement this morning, and this seemed to continue somehow into my talk from Luke’s gospel about the two thieves crucified either side of Jesus on the cross. Everyone seemed to be with me as we bounced through the story. When I gave an invitation for salvation, 10 people came forward in response to the first appeal, and a further 4 did so to a second. I was told afterwards that there were around 350 people there.

I’ve been to City Church for each of the past 3 years, and have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. I also had a good time catching up with James Street, the Newcastle University Christian Union President, who I am working with this academic year in the build up to speaking at their Carol Service at Jesmond Parish Church on Friday 6th December and their events week in March 2014.

I was also delighted to have lunch with the eldership couples and their children, and then I had a great time catching up with Ian Galloway who leads the church at the airport before flying home.
