All change in Bournemouth

It was an honour to speak at City Gate Church, Bournemouth on their fourth Sunday in their new purpose-built home in the town centre, just a few yards from Bournemouth train station. I’ve cut and pasted (below) a link from the BBC news website who covered the church’s launch last month. They had been running two services in their old St Swithun’s Church venue, which is now up for sale. Now they are holding one big meeting and the church seemed much larger than ever before, i.e. even when you add the two previous meetings together. I got a tour of all the kids work rooms and offices afterwards, and also the area which will open as a cafe. Several hundred students live above the church auditorium and many have already visited downstairs on a Sunday morning. The whole building is brand new, and the church has done brilliantly well to get such a huge plot on the ground floor of this massive development. The talk I did was part of an Alpha launch and I was asked to address the specific objection: “Can I trust the Bible?” I got quite a few laughs considering the subject matter! I have spoken every autumn at City Gate for the past 6 years and it is amazing to see how much the church has grown since I first spoke there in 2008. I have huge respect for all the elders there and I very much enjoyed having lunch with Guy and Heather Miller, who lead the church, afterwards. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-24194891
