High Wycombe yesterday

I presented some new material on the fine-tuning of the universe as part of an Alpha Course launch talk called “Questions about Faith” at King’s Church, High Wycombe yesterday. The idea was to tackle lots of objections to Christianity briefly. There was a superb Alpha testimony just before I spoke from Richard, who had been very senior at British Airways, and became a Christian in retirement.

What’s so encouraging is that the church is almost double the size it was when I first spoke there in 2008, when they had just one morning service. Yesterday I spoke at the 9.30am and 11.30am services. And I’m delighted to say that Julia and our 4 girls joined me at the 11.30am service. They usually come with me once a term, or three times a year. It’s a great way for our children to connect with what I’m doing as I speak at various places around the UK. And Neil Bartlett who leads the church hit the ball out the park by giving Julia some amazing flowers, and then taking all 6 of us out to Pizza Express with his wife Des. What a treat! We are hugely grateful. And what a great job they have done leading that church.

Just going back to the Alpha launch event, I have led 35 Alpha Courses in the past, and I recently met up with Tim May, one of the leaders Alpha UK, and I’ve been very impressed with the innovations they’ve built around the Alpha Course, such as Alpha lab and Alpha Builder.
