Birmingham University: 21 students who are not part of church or CU say “yes” to Christ. 71 say they’d like to know more

21 students who are not part of church or the Christian Union said “count me in” during Birmingham University CU’s Focus week. There were an additional 71, also not part of church or CU who left their contact details because they “want to know more”. Many of these are people who have had no previous contact with Christianity. For example after my talk on “Has Science Buried God?” one young man called Tony asked me: “I am close to believing in God. Which religion would you recommend?” Some of these people were handed a flyer on Monday, and then came to most or all of the 14 talks I did across the 5 days, and were ready to say “yes” to Jesus by last night! Each lunchtime at 12noon and then repeated at 1.00pm, I tackled one of the biggest objections to Christianity in a marquee tent pitched on the centre of campus. After a 20 minute talk, I took Q&A, which was a thrilling experience, as people could ask anything and they did! Then each evening we put on a meal in Selly Oak, where the majority of second and third year students live, where I spoke each night from a different passage of the Bible. Each night we were full and we ran out of food on Thursday night, and students stayed til the very end end every night chatting around tables, they only left when we turned the lights out. A huge well done to Esther Donnelly, and her team who did a fantastic job putting on such a great series of events.
