33 first-time commitments to Christ at East Grinstead last night

A whole load of people came forward responding to the gospel, and I’ve just heard that 33 of them made a first-time decision to follow Jesus at our “Newday On The Road” event in East Grinstead. Phill Gray, who runs the summer Newday event at Norwich was there, and he said he thought there were between 350 and 400 there, so a massive well done to him and also to Pete Benton, who organised last night, pulling together people from as far afield as Dartford and Kingston-upon-Thames. The night started with a volleyball match with about 100 people on each side! Then “Forerunner” led worship and did a great job.

My first words on stage were: “Yeah, Saturday night in East Grinstead!” which got a huge laugh because they thought I was being ironic! I then preached on the Thief on the Cross from Luke 23. About 50 people arrived 5 minutes into the talk, which was fun. I really enjoyed the experience. What a day, it was our youngest daughter Emma’s 3rd birthday party, so it was slightly bizarre to go from “pass the parcel” and “musical bumps” straight into 3 men being crucified on wooden crosses but such is the life of Adrian Holloway.
