Here’s a biog that I’ve pulled together for John. He’ll be at Newday in Norwich on 17th August 2012. You can find out more about Newday at newdaygeneration.org

Professor John Lennox, of Oxford University is famous for his public ‘Science verses God’ debates against Richard Dawkins. As a professor of Mathematics at Oxford University, Lennox was more than a match for atheism’s leading advocate when they debated Dawkins’ book “The God Delusion” in the USA in 2007. On 21 October 2008, Lennox again debated with Richard Dawkins at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History, the site of the 1860 evolution debate between TH Huxley and Samuel Wilberforce. The Spectator called the event: “Huxley v Wilberforce Round Two”.

Lennox’s 2009 book “God’s Undertaker: Has Science Buried God?” is considered by many to be the best book written from a Christian perspective on the subject. Last year Lennox published 3 more books. One was a brief response to Stephen Hawking, entitled: “God and Stephen Hawking: Whose Design is it Anyway?”, another was “Gunning for God: A response to the New Atheism”, which contained some of the arguments Lennox put forward in his 2009 debate with Christopher Hitchens, and a third publication was “Seven Days that Divide the World: The Beginning According to Genesis and Science” in which Lennox reveals his take on contentious issues such as whether God created the world in seven 24 hour days, whether ‘evolution’ could have accounted for the rich variety of animal and plant life we see today, and also in a fascinating appendix, he also gives his view on “theistic evolution.”

John Lennox is married to Sally, and has three children and five grandchildren.
