You do This, I’ll do That!

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 Don’t just worry about it. Don’t just allow it to churn over and over in your mind. Whatever your situation, tell God about it, and then, here’s the crucial bit, throw in some thanksgiving. No matter how dire your predicament, find a tiny element of your life that you are grateful to God for. (“Thank you God that I have 2 arms and 2 legs and I have a roof over my head”) Make your petition therefore a mixture of praise and request. Once you have, God promises a supernatural event will follow, the peace of God will guard your heart and mind. This is what God promises to do in verse 7, but you have to do verse 6. You have to do verse 6, when you don’t feel like it. Don’t wait for a warm feeling, don’t wait for some worship music, go for it!
