[Jesus said:] My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:2-3 Here, Jesus gives us a 100 per cent cast iron guarantee about the next life. He even goes as far as to say “if it were not so, I would have told you.” He re-assures us that he wouldn’t make this promise unless it was totally trustworthy. He says the fact that he’ll return to earth and take you to heaven is as certain as his physical ascension. What greater authority is there than Jesus about what happens beyond the grave? The only way we’d know what’s beyond death is if someone had gone there and come back to tell us. Which is precisely what Jesus has done. If we are worried about what will happen to us when we die, we need to go back and study the evidence for the resurrection.
