10 people who told us they are not part of any church, prayed a salvation response prayer when I spoke at King’s Church, Lewes’ Carol Service last night. This is a church which moved into a warehouse 15 years ago. I think it was a £0.5m purchase and £0.5m conversion. Great to see it full last night, and a highlight for me was the huge choir and also great to see them singing a full number of verses from some of the lesser-spotted carols, such as “See amid the winter’s snow”. My first involvement with the church was back in 1990 when I joined a short-term outreach team during my university holidays. I met Rich and Lally Tutt, who are still there and leading the church. I still have photos of speaking to people in the streets of Lewes about Jesus that week. Last night’s event was the culmination of several visits to meet with the Lewes elders talking about their evangelism, especially on ‘normal’ Sundays, and I think they’ve seen some significant progress. It was a great way to end the year. I’m now ‘off’ and wish all our friends and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
