Preaching at Everyday Church, Wimbledon

It was great to be back at Everyday Wimbledon yesterday for our Covid-delayed “Farewell Sunday”. We moved out of London during lockdown, so there were very few in person goodbyes in 2020. But we saw loads of old friends yesterday. It was tremendous! It’s just over 2 years since we were last in Queens Road. I preached from Joshua chapter 24 a message called “You’ll get there in the end.” And brilliant to go out to lunch afterwards with Simon & Gwen Elliott, who now lead the church, and have been long term friends and supporters of ours. Lovely to have Esther, Grace and Emma with us on stage when we all got prayed over. (Bethany is in her final year at Nottingham University studying Biology.) It’s the official end of an era for us. Julia and our girls were at Everyday every Sunday for 5 and a half years from Sept 2014 til March 2020. I first heard the good news about Jesus at that church in September 1984. And I was converted there through a prophecy on 14th April 1985, both at the evening service, which I spoke at yesterday, at 7pm. Drove home feeling very thankful. (My Joshua 24 talk was specific to the Wimbledon venue, so the church played out a different talk by me online from Genesis 37, because most of the Everyday online congregation don’t live in Wimbledon.)
