On Friday I headed up to Wymondham in Norfolk for an Alpha Course launch, where I spoke on “Is there more to life than this?” at Hope Community Church’s amazing new building. And I was delighted to get an email subsequently from them saying that “30 people have signed up for the full Alpha.” It’s an exciting time of year, with the Alpha bus ads in London declaring that “Wednesday is the new Friday”. It’s wonderful to see lots of people considering Christianity for the first time. I also did a time of Q&A on stage in Wymondham, with most questions being about suffering, and then one about evidence for the historical Jesus, another about how the world began and how it will end! The church is led by my great friend Grantley Watkins, who’s been strategic to numerous church plants in his adopted Norfolk. I also had the pleasure of meeting John Wilthew, who was serving in the kitchen. I first met in Brighton and then at Sidcup where he was a key leader.
