Wednesday Night in Gerrard’s Cross: Sold Out!

On Wednesday night, (19th Jan) I am at St James’, Gerrard’s Cross, which is where my sister in law, Sarah and her husband Max are very involved. Up until recently, the church was led by my old Christian Union leader, Paul Williams, who is now Bishop of Kensington.

I met Paul again for the first time in 20 years at the Alpha International Week last year at Holy Trinity Brompton. Back in October 1988, I was so looking forward to my first Saturday night at University, but no alcohol was involved! I entered St Nicholas’ Church, Durham and there were about 300 people there, and at the front playing the guitar was Paul Williams, the President of Durham Inter-Collegiate Christian Union.

Paul was so accomplished as a leader even then, I couldn’t really believe he was a student. I know St James http://www.saintjames.org.uk/ grew significantly while he was there. It’s an Alpha Launch and the dinner is sold out, (144 tickets all gone for a Mexican meal) so I’m looking forward to it very much.
