Report on my Trip to Horsham This Morning

Adrian Holloway on January 16, 2011 with 0 Comments

Two people responded for salvation at King’s Church, Horsham today even though it wasn’t an evangelistic message.

I’d done my “Six Reasons why people become Christians” talk, and the church’s new leader Andy Robinson, (who incidentally has a great blog where he reproduced Larry Tomczak’s unforgettable “Biblical Confessions to Build Your Faith”), gave an invitation at the end and two people walked to the front to respond for salvation, one of whom came up to tell me her story and she definitely made a first-time commitment on her second-ever visit to the church.

There has been a newfrontiers church in Horsham for more than 30 years, but now KC Horsham are in “40 days of fasting” leading up to a gift day as they are going for a property in the centre of the town that would be the church’s dream home.

So there were a lot of hungry people in the 350 or so, who were there! There’s nothing like fasting to focus the mind!

The church currently meet in a school sports hall, and it was a great meeting. The lead guitarist from Matt Redman’s band at Newday led worship, which was slightly confusing for me, as he’s not in the Horsham church, but was brilliant nonetheless.

On a personal level, some of you will know that for some time, I’ve been doing my equipping in evangelism message: “Communicating the Gospel in your World” around the churches. I’ve had various attempts at a follow-up, but none of them have been ones I’ve been entirely happy with – until now. I felt that when I did the “Six Reasons why we can expect many people to become Christians” talk at Hastings, that I finally had it how I wanted to it, and it seemed to fly off the bat to the boundary at Horsham too!

It was great also to see my old friend Phil Playfoot, and as before at Horsham the whole church were extremely kind to me. They seemed very excited to have me, and gave me a great welcome.

I discovered yesterday, when I wandered into the Christian bookshop in Reigate, where I was met by a man called Jamie Oliver (no kidding!) that the Crawley newfrontiers church, now also have their own building, so when Horsham get theirs it will be the start of a new era for newfrontiers in mid-Sussex.

I’m now getting ready for doing some apologetics training at Christ Church on Tuesday night, so I’ll be at the City Temple on Holborn Viaduct for that.
