2 healings and 5 salvation responses in Bristol

This morning there were 2 people who came to the microphone to report at healing at City Church, Bristol. And later on there were 5 people who responded to the invitation to become a Christian. I was so encouraged also to learn that the church had done a week of outreach before the event, and the venue was totally full. In fact I don’t think they could have seated anyone else. I’d reckon it was somewhere between 250 and 280 people there in the Elmgrove Centre, including children, although that is very much a guess. I saw lots of old friends including Sheldon Carlisle, a former lodger of ours, and my giant 6 foot 6 friend Jon Reilly who I used to play rugby with for the Old Reigatians in 1996-97. Jon popped in at the end with his daughter Millie. I’ll never forget going on rugby tour to Devon with him. Also tremendous to see Ben & Jess Welchman, who’d led the week of evangelism, and also pastor Simon & Kate Walker, who are always positive and always full of joy. And then it was my privilege to have lunch with Pete and Fiona Mack, some great friends from Christ Church London days, who are now at City Church Bristol with their boys Rafa and Zach. And just to say that two days ago, I really enjoyed speaking at the first meeting of the new term at Southampton University Christian Union, who’ve traditionally been the largest University CU in England, and although I’ve done their first “Unite” meeting of the year three times now, it was still moving to see the enormous lecture theatre in Building 32 full. It was an excellent time and good to see Niv Lobo, who is the UCCF staff worker there. It was my first of five visits to SUCU in 2017-18, the next being their weekend away at Christ Church, Winchester later this month.
