I’m preaching at Rhiwbina Baptist Church in Cardiff this coming Sunday (20th March). It’s a church that I’ve never been to before. They have come into Newfrontiers within the last few years and are led by Andrew Davies. I met Andrew, who must be one of the world’s most enthusiastic people, 20 years ago, when he came to Lewes in Sussex to train me and others how to do “sketch-boarding”. This is painting a picture (literally) in a high street and talking to people about what you are painting as they stop and watch a cryptic evangelistic message emerge from the mess of paint. The most celebrated sketch-boarding routine was called “Something Beautiful.” The best ever rendition I saw of it was done by Lex Loizides in an Eastbourne shopping precint, where he preached it through the lens of Pablo Picasso. Those were the days!
